Massage Q & A

Elevate Medical Spa and Salon

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy uses specialized techniques to manipulate your muscles and soft tissues. Massage therapists use their hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows to manipulate muscles and increase blood flow to your problem areas.

What kind of massages are there?

Elevate Medical Spa and Salon offers several massage services in house, including:

  • Swedish Massage - $115 / $170
  • Deep Tissue Massage - $125 / $195
  • Hot Stone Massage - $145+

You can choose 60 or 90 minute treatments to relieve pain from tired muscles, reduce stress, improve blood circulation, and restore your overall sense of well-being. We also offer on site services. Please contact the spa for more information on availability and pricing details.

Which massage is right for me?

Each massage technique offers health benefits. If you aren’t sure which one is right for you, Our Licensed Massage Therapist will discuss your goals and medical history before recommending a specific massage treatment.

A Swedish massage uses long, gentle strokes and deep circular movements to release tension from your muscles. A deep tissue massage uses more aggressive techniques to reach the deeper muscles and tissues of your body.

During a hot stone massage, Our Massage therapist places heated stones along trigger points of your body to relax the muscles and improve circulation.

What can I expect during a massage?

You remove all of your clothing, except for your underwear if that would help you feel comfortable. You will lay flat on the massage table with a sheet draped over you for privacy. You start the massage laying on your back and halfway through the treatment, you can flip over to address the back of your legs and back.

The massage therapist uses a special lotion to reduce friction and addresses any problem areas. You can expect a thorough massage of your:

  • Head
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Feet
  • Back
  • Neck
  • Shoulders

Immediately following the massage, you may feel very relaxed and even lightheaded. You can take your time sitting up and dressing.

Why do I have to drink water after a massage?

It’s important to drink enough water to help your body eliminate released toxins after a massage. Plain water assists your kidneys and other organs in flushing out the toxins and rehydrating your muscles to prevent soreness.

Drinking water before your massage appointment is also beneficial in that the extra hydration can make it easier for the therapist to manipulate your muscles.
