The Alma Harmony XL Pro laser system targets hair pigments and uses light energy to destroy active hair follicles. Once the laser destroys the follicle, new hair can’t grow.
Laser hair removal can effectively treat unwanted hair on several areas of the body, including:
While the laser technology is powerful enough to destroy hair follicles, it doesn’t affect the surrounding skin and tissues in the treatment area. We ask that you do shave well on the morning of your appointment- as our laser does not require hair growth to perform the treatment.
Treatment times depend on the size of the area you are treating. The staff can provide you with more accurate procedure times during your evaluation.
During the procedure, ultrasound gel and the handheld device is applied to the treatment area. You may feel warm sensations with very little to no pain at all. As the technology destroys the hair follicle, on rare occasions, you may smell a slight sulfur smell. This is normal. A treatment can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 60 minutes, dependent on the size of the treatment area.
Results occur immediately following the procedure. As the treatment can only destroy active hair follicles, additional treatments will be necessary to achieve your desired results. It’s important to know that Laser Hair Removal is not permanent but rather it allows for the reduction of hair growth so that you may only need a treatment 1-2 times per year. When you have reached your desired outcome, you may only need a treatment 1-2 times per year. Results are very dependent on the individual skin and hair type.
If your hair is light, like blonde or gray, you may not experience the same results as those with darker hair. The staff can analyze your skin, hair color and thickness to determine how many treatments may be necessary. Treatments are usually scheduled four to eight weeks apart.
You may experience temporary warmth, swelling or redness that resolves on its own in a few hours. You can use a cool compress and over-the-counter medications to relieve minor discomfort.
Laser hair removal typically doesn’t require any downtime. You can expect to return to your normal activities following your treatment.
You should avoid direct sun exposure in the treatment area for 1-2 weeks prior and definitely do not get laser if you are sunburned. You should also refrain from using a tanning bed or lamp as your skin heals.
